Back from hiatus for a moment. Haven't added much lately, but these came in just in time for a classy party. My friend turned 25, and decided to have a wonderful theme party. Speakeasy, darling. So I got to get all dolled up. Havent The lovely dress is vintage from a great aunt of mine, the hat and mink (yes, mink) are my grandmother's. Yes, it's three mink bodies biting each others butts. No, I don't feel bad about wearing fur. It is an hairloom, and they were dead long ago. Their names are Eeney, Meeney, and Miney. The sweet necklace was another friends grandmothers. (something about relations here...)

The shoes are not vintage, but totally look it. Amy's grandmother (again?) had a pair of spanich lace heels she got in the 40's. Amy has them now and I wanted something similar. And when She linked me to a pair online, I had to have them. Peep toes and 3.5" heels. The lace is adorable and there is a small bow on the toe strap.

You know, I could wax satirical about lack of clothing and comfy beds and silky lingere. I could. But I'm not gonna. We both know what this post is all about.
Betsey Johnson special edition Layla B-day pumps. Swarovski and pearl detail, screw heel, pleated satin with glitter mesh overlay. I think the shoe speak for themselves.

Christmas came early this year. More on that in a moment. The outfit is my driving outfit. It's what I wear when I go driving. Which I can't right now. So I wear the clothes and pretend. Its a nice sensation. My favorite black skinny jeans with the fur lined biker jacket. And some sexy underwear. That's it.

Christmas came, like I said, early. It came in a pretty pink box with leopard print paper. Black Betsey Johnson peep-toe pumps with gold studs on the bow. Leather. Killer doorstop-looking heels.

They also came with a pair of leather driving gloves with little rivets that match my jacket. And bows. The bows are killer.

...sometimes, I put the gloves in my face and inhale the smell of leather.....is that wrong?

Halloween. I could have cone all wacky with some crazy costume, but I've been rather busy and stressed lately. So I wore my classic fail-proof fall-back costume. Years and years ago (we're talking early 70's here) my mother was at school in Europe. When she was in Austria, she got herself a dirndl. I think she got my aunt one too. And now I have it. It's survived many a Halloween before, when I just couldn't come up with anything good. But it fits me perfectly, and it DOES look good. Apparently though I haven't work it recently enough for my friends to remember.

Well, now you can remember!

I found I didn't have anything terribly authentic or apropriate for a Heidi/Swiss Miss look. So I went with the vague idea of the VonTrap family, and pulled out a pair of brown ballet flats. At one point they had silly elastic straps across the front, and might have been black. I'm pretty sure they were for another costume at some point. But what I love about them is that they're terribly well soled and are quite comfortable.

And yes, I finally DID get some Trick-or-treaters this year.

Costume comission for a friend. Hapily enough, she and I are the same size, so I can test the fit on me. And it just happens that since all the students wear the same costume, and the character's best friend has hair that matches a wig I have....I totally am cosplaying the bestfriend before I deliver the ensemble.

White dress shirt with oversize cuffs and collar. Pleated skirt and jacket in stretch twill. The jacket is a little ridiculous. Stud details, picky rosebud buttons that DO NOTHING, odd collar that is a creation of the imagination, a large amount of white piping. I do love the studs though, they're quite perfect.

I got these years ago for another costume, but they seemed right for this. They're this weird color between brown and red. Next to a brown shoe they look red, next to a red shoe they look brown. But they ARE really comfortable. Es muy importante.

Domestic diva? I'll go with that, yeah.Like Martha Stewart, only not as stuffy. The shit I do is actually useful. I'm stealing Vintage Hat Friday for one week. Teal dress circa '53, hat circa '45. It's the ridiculous feather that does it for me. Hat was my grandmothers I think, and the dress belonged to an old family friend whose collection of old formal and cocktail dresses I aquired years ago.

Shoes were a lovely find at the Goodwill. A little roomy since they're a wide, and I am not. But I admit I couldn't say no, they were so damned cute.
