Halloween. I could have cone all wacky with some crazy costume, but I've been rather busy and stressed lately. So I wore my classic fail-proof fall-back costume. Years and years ago (we're talking early 70's here) my mother was at school in Europe. When she was in Austria, she got herself a dirndl. I think she got my aunt one too. And now I have it. It's survived many a Halloween before, when I just couldn't come up with anything good. But it fits me perfectly, and it DOES look good. Apparently though I haven't work it recently enough for my friends to remember.

Well, now you can remember!

I found I didn't have anything terribly authentic or apropriate for a Heidi/Swiss Miss look. So I went with the vague idea of the VonTrap family, and pulled out a pair of brown ballet flats. At one point they had silly elastic straps across the front, and might have been black. I'm pretty sure they were for another costume at some point. But what I love about them is that they're terribly well soled and are quite comfortable.

And yes, I finally DID get some Trick-or-treaters this year.

Costume comission for a friend. Hapily enough, she and I are the same size, so I can test the fit on me. And it just happens that since all the students wear the same costume, and the character's best friend has hair that matches a wig I have....I totally am cosplaying the bestfriend before I deliver the ensemble.

White dress shirt with oversize cuffs and collar. Pleated skirt and jacket in stretch twill. The jacket is a little ridiculous. Stud details, picky rosebud buttons that DO NOTHING, odd collar that is a creation of the imagination, a large amount of white piping. I do love the studs though, they're quite perfect.

I got these years ago for another costume, but they seemed right for this. They're this weird color between brown and red. Next to a brown shoe they look red, next to a red shoe they look brown. But they ARE really comfortable. Es muy importante.

Domestic diva? I'll go with that, yeah.Like Martha Stewart, only not as stuffy. The shit I do is actually useful. I'm stealing Vintage Hat Friday for one week. Teal dress circa '53, hat circa '45. It's the ridiculous feather that does it for me. Hat was my grandmothers I think, and the dress belonged to an old family friend whose collection of old formal and cocktail dresses I aquired years ago.

Shoes were a lovely find at the Goodwill. A little roomy since they're a wide, and I am not. But I admit I couldn't say no, they were so damned cute.

I was going to have coherent thoughts and words and the like for his post, but I seem to have lost them all.
Enjoy.

Day 33

Moving on.

Did I mention I have a penchant for back and white? No? Well, I have a penchant for black and white. Now you know.

This is my graduation dress. I made it. It's hot. And makes me look even hotter. Yes, I DID wear something under my graduation robes. I also didn't cut my nice robes up to make them less boxy, that's just rude. But I didn't have the good shoes for graduation. I borrowed a similar pair from a friend's mother years ago. (Why did said mother have such sexy hoochie shoes? I'm not sure, but I don't think I want to think about her love life. I have a blinder for friends mothers and sex.) I also wore a bra at graduation so there wasn't gratuitous nippleage.

I have no words for the hotness of these shoes.

P.S. My flowers are monstrous and awesome.
